Autumn Leaves

Hey kids, please join me on my latest adventure. I want to see some autumn leaves.

Travelin’ Rick grabbed his camera and a picnic lunch and headed out in his car. He headed north and travelled up from Kingston, Ontario to Sharbot Lake, Ontario which was about 45 minutes away. Once in Sharbot Lake, Travelin’ Rick travelled north on Highway 509. There were a lot of nice little towns in that area, Snow Road, Ardoch, Ompah just to name a few.

It was a warm autumn day. As soon as Travelin’ Rick got onto Highway 509 he noticed the beautiful autumn colours. The trees were a bright red, orange and brown colour. He was so happy he had taken this drive.

Travelin’ Rick was not alone on this adventure. There were lots of people taking a drive just to see the leaves. He could understand why. The leaves were just brilliant to look at. Travelin’ Rick had traveled to a lot of places in his life but nothing compared to a nice autumn drive in the country in Ontario.

Travelin’ Rick got out and stretched his legs at a rest stop. He was so amazed at the beauty around him. He saw autumn colours in every direction that he looked in. Right in front of him he saw a huge pile of leaves that someone had just finished raking. He looked at it and then turned away and then he just couldn’t resist it. He jumped right into the pile of leaves.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Travelin’ Rick to himself, as he got up and brushed the leaves off himself. “That was so much fun! I haven’t done that in years.”

“I see you just made a big mess of the leaves I just raked up,” Travelin’ Rick heard a voice behind him say.

Travelin’ Rick didn’t say a word to the man he saw standing there and took the rake from the side of the building and raked up the leaves.

“Well,” said the man. “I must say. You did a better job raking the leaves than I did.”

“Let’s just say I’ve had lots of practice,” said Travelin’ Rick, putting the rake back.

Moral of this Story:

  • Always help out if you were responsible for the mess.
  • Example: Travelin’ Rick raked up a pile of leaves because he was the one that messed them up.
