I Know You Love Me Because…

“Why are you crying?” asked Fawn, seeing Spot sitting at the kitchen table crying.

“I am crying because I don’t think you love me,” cried Spot.

“Spot,” said Fawn. “Why would you think such a thing?”

“Because you never tell me that you love me,” said Spot.

Fawn thought for a minute. Spot was right. He could not remember the last time he told Spot he loved her.

“I guess that is true,” said Fawn. “However, I do happen to do a lot of things to show my love toward you.”

Spot sat and thought about what Fawn had just said. He was right. Fawn did do a lot of things to show Spot he loved her. He helped her clean up the barn without her asking. He has done the dishes plenty of times and when Spot was really sick with the flu, he helped take care of her.

“I was going to give this to you on Valentine’s Day,” said Fawn, after going to his bedroom for a minute.

Spot started crying all over again when she saw the delicate heart locket that Fawn had given her.

“Why are you crying now?” asked Fawn.

“These are happy tears,” said Spot, vowing to never doubt Fawn’s love for her ever again.
