Fawn’s Sunny Day

“Spot,” said Fawn, to his friend, while standing near the barn window. ”Lets do something different today.”

“Like what?” asked Spot. ”I would just like to stay here today.”

”But Spot,” said Fawn. ”It looks like such a nice day outside. The sun is shining and it is warm out.     It isn’t even going to rain today, either.”

”Well, what do you want to do?” said Spot.

”I thought we could go shopping,” said Fawn.

”That would be fun,” said Spot. ”The only problem is, where would two cows go shopping in a city?”

”Where do Mr. and Mrs. Hansen go shopping?” asked Fawn.

”I think they go shopping at the Oshawa Shopping Center,” said Spot. ”Don’t you remember when Jenny and Ricky got their new shoes last weekend? Jenny said they went to the O.C. and you asked her what the O.C. was, because you said the O.C. sounded like a fruit drink, but then Ricky said that you must have been thinking about O.J. or orange juice.”

”Yes, I remember,” said Fawn, smiling. ”Ricky is quite a funny guy.”

”So, what do you want at the mall?” asked Spot.

”I’d just like to look around at stuff,” said Fawn. ”Ricky said that there are lots of stores there.”

”Fawn,” said Spot. ”I don’t think that we should go to the mall.”

”Why not?” asked Fawn.

”Don’t you remember Ricky also telling us about all the people at the mall?” asked Spot.

”Yeah, so,” said Fawn. ”That’s no big deal. Spot, you have to remember that we now live in a city and in a city, there are lots and lots of people.”

”That’s true,” said Spot. ”Okay, lets go.”

Fawn and Spot started walking toward the Oshawa Center. It took them about an hour to walk and the closer they got to it, the busier the streets became. Fawn was really staring to become nervous, way more nervous than Spot was.

Finally, they reached the parking lot and Fawn just stopped dead in his tracks, looking at all the cars and all the people that were there. Fawn started to break out in a cold sweat. He took one look at Spot and then the two cows walked home together, not saying a word to each other.
