Grand Old Leprechaun
Unknown to most Irish Canadians is the fact that Ireland is not the only place in the world to have leprechauns. We have them right here in Storyland too. Leprechauns are all over Storyland. They live on Storyland’s west coast. They live on Storyland’s east coast and everywhere in between. There are lots of them but because they are magical they are very rarely seen.
Because of the sheer numbers of them, they have a leader. Their leader is Grand Old Leprechaun, the eldest and wisest of all leprechauns. Grand Old Leprechaun is a kind and gentle soul. He will not put up with any nonsense from the other leprechauns.
Leprechauns are known for being sneaky, nasty and underhanded. Grand Old Leprechaun has been trying to change that. He doesn’t want leprechauns to be known for their wicked ways. He wants them to be known as being kind and gentle.
One thing Grand Old Leprechaun will not put up with is a liar. A leprechaun that is caught lying can be banished from their family and their community.
Grand Old Leprechaun wants all the leprechauns in Storyland to be accountable for their actions. If a leprechaun makes someone a promise, that leprechaun must fulfill it.
Having a leader like Grand Old Leprechaun is a blessing to all the leprechauns in Storyland. It used to be that leprechauns would be at war with each other constantly, but not anymore. They are getting along with one another and they are proud to be a part of the leprechaun community.
