Missing Socks

“It is Groundhog Day,” said Silly Groundhog,” waking up early. “Today I find out if we are going to have an early spring or not.”

Silly Groundhog was very excited. He had a good feeling about this Groundhog Day.

“I’d better get dressed,” said Silly Groundhog. “I will have to come up out of my hole in less than an hour.”

Silly Groundhog got dressed but he couldn’t find his socks.

“Oh dear,” said Silly Groundhog. “Where are my socks?”

Silly Groundhog looked everywhere for his socks but they were nowhere to be found.

“My feet are going to freeze without my socks,” said Silly Groundhog.

It was time for Silly Groundhog to come out of his hole.

“There’s the groundhog!” shouted the crowd. “Does he see his shadow? Oh, I hope not!”

Silly Groundhog stepped into some snow with his bare feet and his feet were freezing. He could only stand out there for a few seconds.

“I didn’t see a shadow,” said the mayor of the town. “But, I don’t know why that silly groundhog went back into his den.”

Meanwhile, Silly Groundhog remembered where his socks were. He put them on and went back outside.

“Oh,” said the mayor. “Silly Groundhog is back. There is no shadow. It is going to be an early spring!”

Everyone, including Silly Groundhog were very happy. There was going to be an early spring.
