Travelin’ Rick’s Christmas at Home
“What are your plans for the Christmas holidays?” Travelin’ Rick’s boss, Bob asked. “You going to do any traveling?”
“Believe it or not,” said Travelin’ Rick. “I’m not doing any traveling this Christmas. I am going to stay home.”
“That will be a change for you,” said Bob.
“Yes,” said Travelin’ Rick. “It will be.”
“I guess when you travel all the time for a living,” said Bob. “Then it would be nice for you to stay home.”
“I actually can’t remember the last time I stayed home for Christmas,” said Travelin’ Rick. “I am looking forward to it.”
“I am going to Mexico for Christmas,” said Bob. “This will be the first time that I am traveling for the Christmas holidays.”
“Looks to me like we are switching roles,” said Travelin’ Rick. “I do hope you have a wonderful Christmas.”
“I hope you do as well,” said Bob. “Merry Christmas Travelin’ Rick.”
“Merry Christmas Bob,” said Travelin’ Rick.
Travelin’ Rick left Bob’s office and went home. He felt a little bit different waking into his house. It was Christmas Eve and he really wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
“I hope I made the right decision in staying home for Christmas by myself,” said Travelin’ Rick. “I wasn’t expecting the house to be so lonely and bare.”
Travelin’ Rick turned the lights to the Christmas tree on and then he turned on some Christmas carols.
“There,” said Travelin’ Rick. “That feels better. Now, it feels more like Christmas.”
Travelin’ Rick had a very peaceful and relaxing Christmas Eve. Christmas morning, he actually slept in. He opened his gifts and then he put the turkey in the oven.
“The smell of the turkey is driving me crazy,” said Travelin’ Rick to himself.
He enjoyed a leisurely walk in the park and when he got home, his turkey dinner was ready.
“That was such a good meal,” said Travelin’ Rick to himself.
Travelin’ Rick was so full from his dinner. He took a cup of tea into the living room and watched a few old Christmas movies.
“I think that was the most relaxing Christmas I have ever had,” said Travelin’ Rick to himself before going to bed. “Merry Christmas!”
