Cutie Goes to the Vet

“Oh no!” exclaimed Arrow, a seven year old cat. “What happened to your eye?”

“Nothing,” said his sister, Cutie. “There is nothing wrong with my eye.”

“It looks like you have been crying,” said Arrow.

“No,” said Cutie. “I haven’t been crying.”

“Why is your eye watering?” asked Arrow.

“I don’t know what you are talking about,” said Cutie. “There is nothing wrong with my eye.”

“I am going to tell Mommy and Daddy,” said Arrow. “Because there is clearly something wrong with your eye.”

“Please don’t,” said Cutie. “They will take me to the vet and I don’t like needles.”

“”You don’t get a needle every time you go to the vet,” said Arrow.

“And what makes you the authority on vets,” said Cutie. “Have you ever been to a vet?”

“No,” said Arrow. “I haven’t.”

Mommy and Daddy came into the room and they immediately saw Cutie’s eye.

“We need to take her to the vet,” said Daddy. “Her eye looks very sore.”

Mommy and Daddy took Cutie to the vet. They left Arrow at home by himself.

“I hope Cutie is okay,” said Arrow. “I don’t want anything bad to happen to her.”

An hour passed and Cutie was still not home. Arrow was pacing the floor and meowing. He was very worried about her.

Another hour went by and Arrow finally heard Mommy and Daddy. He immediately went to the front door to greet them.

“Hi Arrow,” said Mommy, bending over and scratching him on his forehead. “Your poor sister has an infection in her eye. She has to have eye drops put in it.”

Arrow went up to Cutie, who was still in Daddy’s arms and he gave her a big kiss.

“It looks like your brother missed you,” said Daddy, setting Cutie down on the chair very gently.

Cutie told Arrow all about her visit to the vet. She told him about all the cats, kittens, dogs and puppies she saw. She told him about the vet that examined her and how nice he was to her.

“So you didn’t get a needle?” asked Arrow.

“No,” said Cutie. “No needle. I did get a treat though.”

“They give treats out when you go to the vet,” said Arrow.

“Yes,” said Cutie. “They do.”

“Maybe going to the vet wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all,” said Arrow.

“It really wasn’t all that bad,” said Cutie.
