Fawn’s New Bike
Fawn woke up one morning and went outside to see what kind of day it was going to be weather-wise. He stood on the front lawn looking out over the field and looked up toward the sky. He saw the sun shining bright and there were no clouds in sight.
“Good,” said Fawn, coming back inside the barn. “Now I can go for a bike ride on my new bike today.”
Fawn did his chores first, which took him about an hour to do, got dressed and put on his bike helmet.
“You going for a bike ride in this weather?” asked Spot.
“What weather?” asked Fawn. “It is a beautiful day.”
“No,” said Spot. “It isn’t. Take a look outside again.”
Fawn went to the front door of the barn and took a look outside. It was pouring rain, with high winds and there were dark grey rain clouds in the sky. Fawn took his helmet off and hung it back up on the coat rack. He went into his room and decided he would clean out his bedroom closet that Spot had been after him to do for months.
“Wow!” exclaimed Spot, standing in Fawn’s doorway. “I can’t believe you cleaned your closet up while it is so nice outside.”
“What!!!” exclaimed Fawn.
“Yeah about ten minutes after you looked outside, it stopped raining,” said Spot.
“That isn’t fair!” exclaimed Fawn, going out to the hallway to grab his helmet.
“Yeah but about ten minutes ago it started to rain again,” said Spot.
“I’m never going to get to ride my new bike,” said Fawn.
“You will,” said Spot.
“I’m going to sell my bike,” said Fawn.
“Are you sure?” said Spot.
“Yes,” said Fawn. “I am sure. I got the bike a week ago now and every time I have tried to go for a bike ride, I couldn’t for some reason or another.”
Fawn sold his bike the next day and a few days later, Spot saw Fawn looking in the catalogue.
“What are you going to do?” said Spot.
“I’m buying another bike,” said Fawn. “It has been good weather every single day since I sold my bike.”
“Well,” said Spot. “I’d wait until maybe tomorrow if you were gonna buy one because it is raining outside.”
