The Pea Pods St. Patrick’s Day
“Oh what a pretty green dress,” said Sissy Pea Pod.
“Well thank you,” said Mommy Pea Pod. “Today is a very special day and that is why I am wearing my green dress.”
“What day is it?” asked Sissy Pea Pod.
“It is St. Patrick’s Day,” said Mommy Pea Pod. “Everyone dresses up in green and they hope that they will meet up with a little old leprechaun that carries a pot of gold.”
“That sounds like fun,” said Sissy Pea Pod.
“Oh it is lots of fun,” said Mommy Pea Pod.
Daddy Pea Pod came into the room and he took one look at Mommy Pea Pod.
“Gee,” said Daddy Pea Pod. “Is it St. Patrick’s Day already?”
“Yes,” said Sissy Pea Pod, all excited.
The Pea Pods all dressed in their finest green outfits and to their surprise Farmer Ted and Sue were dressed in their finest green outfits too.
“Oh I see you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day too,” Sue said to Mommy Pea Pod.
“Absolutely,” said Mommy Pea Pod. “It is the one day that we can celebrate having green skin.”
“Well come and join Farmer Ted and I in the living room,” said Sue. “We are going to dance and eat and be merry on this St. Patrick’s Day.”
“That sounds like fun,” said Daddy Pea Pod.
“Hey,” said Sue, thinking. “You don’t happen to know of any little green men that carry around a pot of gold with them. Do you?”
“I just happen to know a certain little green man,” laughed Daddy Pea Pod. “However if he ever got the chance to carry around a pot of gold with him, he’d be dancing a St. Patrick’s Day dance forever.”
“Well,” said Farmer Ted, pointing to a tiny pot of gold in the corner of the living room. “Get dancing!”
Daddy Pea Pod went over to where the pot of gold was sitting and he was just about to touch one of the coins when a leprechaun came bounding out from behind the curtains. He almost scared Daddy Pea Pod.
“What are you doing touching my pot of gold?” asked the leprechaun.
“Wait,” said Sue. “Ask the leprechaun for three wishes?”
“Yes,” said Daddy. “Okay, my three wishes are, 1. I want a new home for Farmer Ted and Sue, 2. I want them to have lots of gold and 3. I want Farmer Ted and Sue to be happy for the rest of their lives.”
“Granted,” said the leprechaun.
The next morning, Farmer Ted and Sue woke up to a brand new house built right beside their old one and a big pot of gold was sitting on their kitchen table.
“What about their third wish?” asked Sissy Pea Pod.
“Oh we’ve got that one too,” said Sue. “We are happy and will be happy for the rest of our lives because, not only do we have a brand new home and a big pot of gold, but we have you in our family.
“Yes,” agreed Farmer Ted, giving Sue a big hug.
