Wide Awake

Fawn was in his bed, tossing and turning so much that he ended up waking Spot, who was sound asleep in the next room.

“Fawn,” said Spot, sleepily. “What is the matter with you? Your tossing and turning woke me up.”

“I can’t sleep,” said Fawn. “I’m wide awake.”

“Try counting sheep,” said Spot, going back to bed.

Fawn woke Spot up again a few minutes later.

“What happened to the sheep?” asked Spot.

“Well,” said Fawn. “The first two sheep were okay but sheep numbers three and four kept getting stuck on the fence.”

“Oh,” said Spot, too tired to laugh. “Try counting french-fries.”

Fawn tried counting french-fries but he still couldn’t get to sleep. Spot came in a few minutes later.

“What happened to the french fries?” asked Spot.

“Well they looked so good that I started eating them,” said Fawn.

“Try counting money then,” said Spot.

Spot went back to bed and was surprised that she was finally able to get to sleep. However, when she woke up a few hours later, she noticed the light was on in Fawn’s room.

“What are you doing?” asked Spot, laughing when she saw Fawn sitting in the middle of his bed, with his piggy bank opened up and loose change all over his bed.

“Counting money,” said Fawn.
