A Special Day

“I am going to fly around Storyland today and tease whoever I can tease that doesn’t like winter,” said Ice Bird, stretching his icy wings. “I love winter and I don’t understand why more people don’t like it.”

It was a very nasty winter day and Ice Bird reveled in it. He loved the snow, the cold and the ice.

“This is just a perfect winter day,” said Ice Bird, seeing that he was the only one out enjoying the weather. “Where is everyone else? Why aren’t there people out enjoying the weather?”

Ice Bird flew down one street and then up the next and he still didn’t see anyone. He flew down one more street and then he spotted a man walking. Ice Bird flew up to the man and got right in front of him.

“Why are you outside?” asked Ice Bird, flapping his icy wings right in front of the mans face. “Nobody likes winter. Go back indoors and stay there like everyone else. I am the only one that likes winter.”

“No you aren’t,” said the man. “I happen to love winter very much. I love to make ice. I am Mr. Iceman.”

“It is a pleasure to meet you,” said Ice Bird, in shock. “It is nice to finally meet someone who loves winter. There aren’t too many of us around. I am sorry for my attitude. I just saw you walking along and assumed you were just like everyone else. My name is Ice Bird.”

“It is actually nice to know there are others that do like winter,” said Mr. Iceman. “I believe we are a rare breed.”

“Yes,” said Ice Bird. “We definitely are!”

“Would you like to see how I make ice?” asked Mr. Iceman.

“I definitely would,” said Ice Bird.

Mr. Iceman showed Ice Bird how he makes ice with his feet and Ice Bird was truly fascinated.

“I think we can become good friends,” said Mr. Iceman.

“I agree,” said Ice Bird.
