The Spring Dance

“Dianne, do you have any plans Friday night?” asked Billy Troll.

“No, I was just going to stay home and watch television,” said Dianne Troll. “Why, what’s up?”

“Well the Troll Town Spring Dance is this Friday night,” said Billy.

“Oh, the Spring Dance!” exclaimed Dianne. “I’d heard it was coming up but I didn’t think it would be this soon!”

“Would you like to go with me?” asked Billy.

“Yes, I would!” exclaimed Dianne. “Who is going to be the entertainment this year? I hope it is someone good. Last year, the Jagged Trolls ruined it.”

“Yes, they did,” said Billy, smiling to himself. “And, don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself.”

“Okay,” said Dianne. “You’ve got a date!”

Dianne was in pretty high spirits all week. She loved going to dances, especially with her good friend, Billy Troll.

“Who knows,” said Dianne to herself. “Maybe I’ll even get a chance to dance with Billy.”

Billy and Dianne had been to several dances in the past, but because Billy is a singer, he is usually up on stage and not on the dance floor.

Friday night came around and Dianne was all ready to go when Billy arrived. He was a perfect gentleman, even pinning a pretty pink and white carnation corsage onto Dianne’s new spring dress.”

“You look lovely, Dianne,” said Billy, giving Dianne a kiss on the cheek.

“Why thank-you,” said Dianne. “So, you never did tell me who is playing tonight.”

“It’s a surprise,” said Billy.

The recreation center was beautifully decorated with spring coloured streamers. It was packed, too. Everyone from Troll Town was there. Dianne felt very honoured to be with the most popular troll in Troll Town.

“Oh look,” said Billy, noticing a disc jockey setting up his equipment. “The entertainment has arrived!”

“A disc jockey,” said Dianne, surprised. “What a great idea?”

The music started playing and people started to dance.

“Now, I’d like to play the music of our own Troll Town hero, Billy Troll,” announced the disc jockey.

“So, that’s the surprise,” said Dianne.

“No, this is,” said Billy, taking Dianne’s hand and leading her onto the dance floor.

“This is great!” said Dianne. “I get to listen to you sing and dance with you at the same time!”

Moral of this Story:

  • It is nice to sit back and enjoy the music.
  • Example: Billy Troll got to listen to his own music and dance with Dianne at the same time.
