Mrs. Tulip

“It is a beautiful spring day,” said Mrs. Tulip, waking up from her long winter nap. “I want to go for a walk.”

Mrs. Tulip put on her walking shoes and stepped outside of the garden. She was so happy because she could see the green grass growing, the bluest sky ever and the bright warm sun shining down on her.

“Good afternoon,” said Mrs. Robin, who was sitting in the grass beside the road.

“Oh good afternoon,” smiled Mrs. Tulip. “It is a beautiful spring day.”

“For now it is,” said Mrs. Robin. “There is a big rain cloud coming our way.”

“You know,” said Mrs. Tulip. “It really is alright if it rains. I know I love drinking the rain water as it drips down on top of me. The rain will also bring the dew worms out, making it easier for you to get to them.”

“You are right,” said Mrs. Robin. “You sure do always find a way to see the bright side of things.”

“There is no sense being sad,” said Mrs. Tulip.

“I agree,” said Mrs. Robin.

Mrs. Tulip continued walking. Soon, she saw a rain cloud in the sky. She didn’t care though. A little rain certainly wasn’t going to affect her mood.

“Good afternoon Mr. Squirrel,” said Mrs. Tulip as she walked past a big oak tree and saw her friend, Mr. Squirrel sitting on one of the branches.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Mr. Squirrel, as he felt a drop of rain on his head. “It has started to rain. I’d better get inside.”

“Why would you want to go inside?” asked Mrs. Tulip.

“It is raining my dear,” said Mr. Squirrel.

“There is nothing wrong with a little rain,” said Mrs. Tulip.

“I suppose you are right,” said Mr. Squirrel. “A little rain never hurt anyone.”

“Now that’s the spirit,” said Mrs. Tulip.

The rain continued. Mrs. Tulip loved it. She loved the feel of the cool raindrops on her petals. It made her feel so good that she grabbed Mr. Squirrel by the paw and started dancing with him.

“That was so much fun,” said Mr. Squirrel when they had finished their dance.

“It certainly was,” said Mrs. Tulip, smiling. “It certainly was.”
