Victor – A Monster’s Diary – Entry 8 – Baby Robin

Dear Diary,

Today was a very strange day. I looked out my window and I watched as a stray cat went up a tree and grabbed a baby robin out of the nest.

Without thinking, I ran outside and shooed the cat away. I picked up the baby robin and brought him inside. I then called the local pet store and they explained to me what I needed to do to keep the baby alive.

After the whole ordeal, I had time to think about what I just did. I have not stopped outside in the last 160 years and I really didn’t feel all that bad about it. My eyes did sting a little from the hot sunshine but I had to expect that.

I thought that maybe I could start venturing outside again. I am thinking that tomorrow I would go to the park across the street from my house. I did have to find some worms for the baby robin.

I was surprised at how much I was looking forward to going to the park. I haven’t looked forward to anything since the spell was put on me 160 years ago.

Maybe the baby robin experience has opened a whole new chapter of my life. Maybe now I can get out of the house and do things like go shopping, go to the library and sit in the park.

I do realize that I am going to see a lot of changes in my surroundings. The only things I have seen in the last 160 years is what I can see out the window of my house and what I have seen on the television and read in newspapers. I suspect tomorrow is going to be a very adventurous day.
