My Open Window

”What a warm night it is?” I complained, getting out of bed and opening up my bedroom window.

”Much better,” I said, feeling the cool breeze across my face.

I crawled back into bed and was soon sleeping peacefully.

”Bang, bang, bang,” I heard a short while later, waking up suddenly.

”What was that!” I asked my empty room.

”Bang, bang, bang,” I heard again.

”I don’t believe this,” I said angrily, getting up out of my bed.

The noise was coming from just outside my open window. I looked outside and could not see anything at first until my eyes adjusted to the darkness.

”Oh no!” I exclaimed angrily. ”You guys are back again!”

I was not pleased with what I saw. There, standing under the moonlight were my three worst enemies, those bratty little Trolls, Red, Orange and Lime.

”Oh hi!” exclaimed Red, happily. ”Nice to see you, again.”

”I’m not so pleased to see the three of you,” I said angrily. ”Do you guys not know what time it is?”

”Well, it is night time,” said Orange, looking around at the darkness of my backyard.

”Brilliant deduction,” I said. ”It’s three o’clock in the morning. What are you guys doing?”

”We’re building a house,” said Lime, holding up a piece of scrap lumber and what looked like my hammer.

”Where did you get my hammer?” I asked. ”I was looking for that the other night. I searched the whole house for it. I wanted to fix the railing on my staircase.

”I’ll fix it for you,” said Lime, already running toward my front door with his brothers following behind him.

Lime, Orange and Red were already banging on my staircase before I could get downstairs to stop them.

”All done,” said Lime shortly.

”Hey, now that we are here,” said Orange. ”How about a snack?”

”Great idea,” said Red. ”I’m really hungry.”

Into my kitchen they went. Lime pulled the jar of peanut butter onto the floor that I had mistakenly left out.

”Look,” I yelled angrily. ”I am tired. I have to get up at six and go to work. Now, hurry up and get out of here!”

I never saw three little Trolls gulp down so many peanut butter sandwiches in five minutes as these guys! I just stood in the middle of my kitchen, shaking my head.

Suddenly, I thought of something, real quick, before they did. After all that peanut butter, they are going to need a drink. I quickly grabbed three plastic cups and poured a glass of milk for each of them.

”We don’t like milk,” said Orange.

“Tough,” I exclaimed. “You three are going to drink this milk and then you are going to get out of my house and leave me alone so, I can get back to sleep.

All three Trolls had the saddest look on their little faces. I felt sorry for them.

”Okay,” I said, pouring the milk down the sink. ”What do you like to drink?”

”Juice,” said Red. ”We really like juice.”

I grabbed three juice boxes out of the fridge and gave one to each of them. They immediately started taking the wrapper off them.

”’Outside!” I yelled.

The trolls took their juice boxes outside while I locked the door behind them.

Amazingly enough, I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. At least, I was asleep until I heard Red crying.

”What is it now?” I screamed.

”Lime took my juice,” Red sobbed.

”Look, I am not dealing with this!” I said angrily. ”Lime give Red his juice back!”

I slammed the bedroom window shut. From that moment on, my bedroom window always stayed closed.
