Winter Indoor Fun
The Poor Mountain Family were inside their log cabin, where it was nice and cozy and warm. Poor Mountain Father was looking out the window. He had a scowl on his face.
“My,” said Poor Mountain Mother, watching him. “What is with that look?”
“It is so nasty outside, ” said Poor Mountain Father. “The weather really doesn’t seem to be letting up.”
It had been snowing for the last few days and it was really starting to pile up.
“The kids are really starting to get restless,” said Poor Mountain Mother. “They have not been outside in days.”
“I’ve got an idea, ” said Poor Mountain Father. “Let’s do some indoor work. Let’s build that entertainment center that we have talked about forever. The kids can help. It will be a family project.”
Poor Mountain Father went down to the basement and got the lumber that he had been saving just for this. Poor Mountain Mother and the children worked on taking the old entertainment center apart.
Poor Mountain Father got Poor Mountain Sister to measure the wood, while Poor Mountain Brother cut the wood to size. Poor Mountain Mother helped out by handing nails and other tools to Poor Mountain Father. Within a few hours the Poor Mountain Family were putting items onto them new entertainment center.
“No,” said Poor Mountain Father, when Poor Mountain Mother and Poor Mountain Brother were lifting their old television set to place it in the entertainment center. “I have a surprise for everyone.”
Poor Mountain Father went downstairs again taking Poor Mountain Brother with him. In a few minutes they came back upstairs with a brand new television set, complete with a built-in dvr.
“This was going to be your birthday present, ” said Poor Mountain Father to Poor Mountain Mother, giving her a kiss on her cheek.
“My birthday is only a few weeks away,” said Poor Mountain Mother.
The Poor Mountain Family enjoyed their new entertainment center very much especially with the new television. In fact, they enjoyed it so much that they didn’t notice that the storm had now been over for a few hours.
