Father’s Day Concert

“Are we doing anything this coming weekend?” asked Billy Troll.

“No, not that I can think of,” said his wife, Dianne Troll. “Why?”

“Well,” said Billy. “I thought we would go see Father Troll. After all it is Father’s Day this coming weekend.”

“It is!” exclaimed Dianne. “I thought that was a whole other week away yet.”

“Okay,” said Billy. “What do we have planned for Father’s Day?”

Dianne laughed nervously. She knew Billy didn’t like it when she planned concerts without him knowing it, however, she also knew how much he loved to perform.

“I was planning a Father’s Day concert in the park,” said Dianne.

“Just when were you going to let the star attraction know about it,” laughed Billy. “I’ll call Father Troll and cancel our plans.”

“No don’t bother,” said Dianne. “I want him to be at the concert too.”

“Ah,” said Billy. “Yes, good idea, since it is a Father’s Day concert.”

“Exactly,” said Dianne.

“Now,” said Billy. “What about your father?”

“What about him?” asked Dianne defensively.

“Don’t you think you should forgive him for what he did and start having a relationship with you again?” asked Billy.

“I don’t know,” said Dianne. “I’m not quite ready for that yet.”

“Time is passing you by,” said Billy. “Don’t you think he would love to be a part of his grandchild’s life once he or she is born?”

“I suppose,” said Dianne.

“Well,” reminded Billy. “He did make an effort last year to come back into your life but you rejected him.”

“Yes,” said Dianne. “I know.”

“It isn’t like he’s an axe murderer or anything like that,” said Billy. “I mean, seriously Dianne. All he did was find another woman to love him after your mother died. There really isn’t anything wrong with that.”

“I guess you are right,” said Dianne. “I’ll call him tomorrow.”

“No need to do that,” said a voice coming from the hallway.

“Daddy!” exclaimed Dianne, running to give her Father a big hug and kiss.

“Now,” said Billy happily. “I’ve got some new music to work on for this coming weekend so I’ll leave you two alone.”

“Oh sounds like a concert,” said Father Troll.

“Not just any concert,” said Dianne, tears pouring down her face. “It’s a Father’s Day concert.”

“I hope I’m invited,” said Father Troll.

“Absolutely,” said Dianne, hugging her father, tightly.

Moral of this Story:

  • It is good to spend time with our fathers for Father’s Day.
  • Example: Dianne Troll didn’t want to forgive her father he came to visit her for Father’s Day.
