A Candy Filled Halloween for Halloween Cat

Halloween Cat sat regally on his perch, situated in front of the big window, his eyes gleaming like lanterns in the dark. From this vantage point, he could see everything that went on, and this was especially helpful to him on the most important night of the year, Halloween. The wind rustled through the leaves outside, casting eerie shadows on the walls, and the sound of children’s laughter and chatter filled the air.

What interested Halloween Cat most on this particular Halloween night wasn’t the trick-or-treaters that came to his door, their costumes a riot of color and creativity, but the trick-or-treaters who had such heavy bags of candy that they left those bags unattended at the bottom of the driveway. His tail twitched with excitement as he spotted one of these bags, and he sprang into action, his muscles rippling beneath his sleek fur.

He raced off the porch, down the hallway, and out the garage door, his paws barely making a sound on the pavement. Then, with the stealth of a seasoned thief, he snatched a piece of candy from the bag and ran back into the house, up onto the perch, and settled in, his eyes gleaming with triumph. He did this so quickly that he was back on the perch before his owners even knew he was gone, their attention focused on the steady stream of trick-or-treaters coming to the door.

He almost got away with it, but his dad caught him red-handed because they had run out of candy and he had to go to the garage to get some more. Dad didn’t confront Halloween Cat right away because he was too busy with the trick-or-treaters. However, once the last trick-or-treater came to the door, Dad had run out of candy yet again.

“Just wait right here,” said Dad to the last trick-or-treater of the night. “I have run out of candy, but I know exactly where I can find some.”

Dad went straight over to Halloween Cat, lifted him out of his perch, and scooped up all the candy Halloween Cat had stolen. He then gave the waiting trick-or-treater the whole stash.

“Now,” said Dad, when the house was quiet and the streets were empty, “for your punishment for stealing candy tonight, you are going to go without food until breakfast tomorrow.”

Halloween Cat smiled and waited until Dad had gone to bed, and then he took out his secret stash of unwrapped candy. What Dad didn’t know was that most of what he gave that last trick-or-treater was just wrappers.

Moral of this Story:

  • It isn’t good to steal candy.
  • Example: Halloween Cat got away with stealing candy but he did get caught at one point.
