Grampy’s Christmas Nap

“Spot,” said Fawn at about 5:30 am in the morning. “It is time to wake up! It is Christmas morning.”

“Fawn,” said Spot, rolling over in her bed and seeing what time it was. “Go back to sleep.”

“But Spot,” said Fawn. “We have presents to open and lots of them too.”

“Fawn,” said Spot. “Grampy wanted you to wait until he gets up to open your presents.”

“Grampy is up already,” said Fawn. “He is the one that woke me up.”

“Oh dear,” said Spot. “Okay, then I’m getting up.”

Spot forgot that Grampy was an early riser, just like Fawn. However, she couldn’t go back to sleep now that she knew that Grampy was up already.

Spot got up and put her housecoat and slippers on and was surprised to see Grampy, Ricky, Jenny and Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, sitting in the living room.

“Boy you guys got up early this morning,” said Spot.

“Don’t look at me,” said Ricky. “It is all Grampy’s fault.”

“Come on everyone,” said Grampy, trying to change to subject. “It is time for everyone to open their presents.”

Everyone opened their gifts and then Grampy and Ricky helped Spot clean up all the wrapping paper and bows that were scattered everywhere. Jenny and Mrs. Hansen cooked breakfast.

“Well,” said Grampy after breakfast. “That was a good breakfast and I love all my gifts that you got me.”

“Thank you,” said Fawn to Grampy. “For the gift that you got me.”

“You are very welcome,” said Grampy, getting up from the table. “I’ve got to go have my nap now.”
