Kind Prairie Dog

Peter Prairie Dog was trying to find a way that he, as a prairie dog, could get the same recognition as groundhogs do on Groundhog Day.

“I will beat the groundhog at its own game,” said Peter Prairie Dog. “This Groundhog Day, I am going to be nice to the groundhog. I will show the groundhog that I can be kind. The groundhog will have no choice but to be kind back.”

Peter Prairie Dog was very excited the morning of Groundhog Day. He was up very early, so early, that the groundhog was still in bed.

“Who is in my kitchen?” asked the groundhog, waking up to the smell of fresh coffee and bacon and eggs.

“Hello,” said Peter Prairie Dog. “Happy Groundhog Day!”

“Okay,” said the groundhog. “I know exactly what you are doing but I can’t resist a good home cooked breakfast.”

“So does that mean we will share Groundhog Day together?” asked Peter Prairie Dog.

“Yes,” said the groundhog. “I will share Groundhog Day with you.”

Peter Prairie Dog was so happy.

“A little act of kindness will go a long way,” said Peter Prairie Dog.
