Autumn in the Pumpkin Patch

“We are going to have record profits with the pumpkin this autumn,” said Pumpkin Prince.

“Yes,”said Pumpkin Fairy, smiling. “I have never seen the pumpkins so big and so plump.”

“Theautumn weather has been perfect this year,” said Pumpkin Prince.

“It has,” said Pumpkin Fairy. “I would say two more weeks until we take them to market.”

“Okay,” said Pumpkin Prince. “I will make arrangements with the market to have them picked up in two weeks.”

“Wonderful,” said Pumpkin Fairy.

Pumpkin Prince got on the phone right away to the markets. He was shocked at the price they offered. It was double what he and Pumpkin Fairy thought they were going to get and the best part was, they were willing to pick them up right away.

Pumpkin Prince couldn’t wait to tell Pumpkin Fairy but she had already gone to bed. He did not want to wake her.

Pumpkin Fairy woke up bright and early the next morning. She went out to check on the pumpkins but was shocked when she saw most of the pumpkins were gone.

“Where are the pumpkins?” screamed Pumpkin Fairy. “They were here last night. I demand to know the truth!”

“I sold them,” said Pumpkin Prince.

“I said we still had two weeks,” said Pumpkin Fairy.

“Yes but I doubled our profits,” said Pumpkin Prince.

“Oh my!” cried Pumpkin Fairy. “That is wonderful!”

“I thought you would like that,” said Pumpkin Prince.
