Long Days
“My!” exclaimed Troll Mother to Troll Daddy, who was just coming in the door from work. “This was such a long day. It just seemed to drag on and on.”
“No,” said Troll Daddy. “This day just flew by. I got heavily involved in a project this morning and before I knew it, the day was gone.”
“Well,” said Troll Mother. “I wish I had something to be heavily involved with during the day. I need something to do to keep me occupied.”
“I thought that going to college was going to keep you busy,” said Troll Daddy.
“Yes,” said Troll Mother. “But the course I wanted to take has been cancelled.”
“Well,” said Troll Daddy. “Why don’t you take another course?”
“I was thinking about taking a computer course,” said Troll Mother.
“That would be a great idea,” said Troll Daddy. “We have a brand new computer that isn’t being used.”
“Yes,” said Troll Mother. “That is true. I was looking over the course catalogue and I’m not sure which course I should take? There are so many to choose from.”
“What are you interested in the most?” asked Troll Daddy.
“Well web page design kind of caught my eye,” said Troll Mother.
“You know,” said Troll Daddy. “We are looking for someone to design a website for the factory.”
“Really,” said Troll Mother. “Maybe I could do that as part of my course.”
“Yes,” said Troll Daddy. “Maybe you could.”
“But,” said Troll Mother. “What if I’m no good at it? Maybe I shouldn’t even bother.”
“I don’t ever want to hear you talk like that ever again,” said Troll Daddy. “You’ve got to stop putting yourself down. You have to give yourself a chance.”
“So you think I can do this?” asked Troll Mother.
“Yes I do,” said Troll Daddy. “I think web design would be a wonderful thing for you to get into it.”
“Okay,” said Troll Mother, taking a long deep breath. “This is what I am going to do.”
Troll Mother took a web design course at the Troll Town Community College . She did very well in it and she loved every minute of it.
“The factory was very pleased with the web page you designed for them in your course,” said Troll Daddy. “In fact they would like you to work for them part-time.”
“Wonderful,” said Troll Mother. “You know it’s a good thing they only want me part-time because I am so busy designing web pages for everyone that if it was full-time, I’d have to say no.”
