School is Out

”Troll Sister, Troll Brother,” called Troll Mother from the foot of the stairs. “Come on. You’re going to be late for your last day of school.”

“We’re coming,” called Troll Sister.

“What is going on around here?” asked Troll Daddy, who was just sitting down at the kitchen table to eat his breakfast. ”It’s very noisy around here this morning and Troll Baby is still sleeping.”

“It’s the last day of school,” said Troll Mother.

”Already,” said Troll Daddy. ”It seems like just yesterday was their first day of school.”

“I know,” said Troll Mother. ”Time just flies by.”

Troll Brother and Troll Sister came down the stairs to eat their breakfast. Troll Mother was about to hand them their lunches.

”We don’t need them,” said Troll Sister. “We’ll be home for lunch.”

”Yes,” said Troll Brother. ”We only go to school for half a day, today.”

”Okay,” said Troll Mother, putting their lunches back into the fridge. ”You can eat them when you get home.”

Troll Sister and Troll Brother went to school. They cleaned out their desks and tidied up the classroom and just before they went home, they received their report cards.

“Look,” said Troll Brother to Troll Sister, pointing to his report card, on their way home. “I passed! I’m going to be in Grade 3 next year!”

”I passed too!” exclaimed Troll Sister. “I’m going to be in Grade 6!”

The Troll were very excited about passing. However, they were even more excited when they saw two shiny, brand new bikes in the driveway.

”These are your passing presents,” said Troll Daddy.

“Wow!” exclaimed Troll Brother.

”Thank you!” exclaimed Troll Sister.

“You two deserved them,” said Troll Daddy.
