Slushy Snowman is Tired of Snow
“It has been snowing almost every day this week,” Slushy Snowman screamed. “I am so tired of the snow.”
Slushy’s frosty voice echoed through the crisp, winter air, reaching the ears of his friend Stacey, who was cozily bundled up in her warm, little house. Stacey could hear him screaming so loudly that she was sure he was going to wake up the neighbors. She also knew that when Slushy screamed, it meant he was angry, and when he was angry, he would end up melting because his body would overheat.
“Slushy!” cried Stacey, once she was dressed and went outside.
She trudged through the thick, powdery snow toward him, her breath visible in the chilly air.
“Please stop yelling,” Stacey said in a very calm voice. “You are going to wake everyone up in the neighborhood and besides that, more importantly, you are causing yourself to overheat and you know that when you overheat you will start to melt, which clearly you have because there is a huge puddle of water around you.”
“You are right,” said Slushy, looking down and seeing that Stacey was correct.
The sight of the shimmering puddle beneath him made him sigh. As soon as Slushy stopped yelling, he noticed his body temperature start to cool, and he felt so much better. The icy wind gently caressed his cheeks, helping to restore his usual frosty demeanor.
“Now,” said Stacey, very calmly, “tell me what you are so angry about.”
Very slowly and calmly, Slushy told Stacey that he was tired of it snowing constantly. Stacey tried so hard to hold back laughter because she felt it was ridiculous that a snowman would be sick and tired of snow.
“If there was no such thing as snow,” said Stacey, “I would have never been able to create you each winter. I could never imagine being without you each winter. That would break my heart.”
Slushy didn’t say anything because he knew Stacey was right. He needed her too, and it would break his heart too if he didn’t see her each winter. The thought of their friendship warmed his icy heart, making him realize how much he valued their time together.
Stacey then had an idea. “Slushy, why don’t we build a snow fort together? It will be fun and it will help you appreciate the snow again.”
Slushy thought about it and smiled. The thought of creating something magnificent with Stacey filled him with excitement.
“That sounds like a great idea, Stacey!” exclaimed Slushy, happily. “Let’s do it!”
Together, they spent the rest of the day building a magnificent snow fort, complete with towering walls and intricate details. The laughter and joy they shared echoed through the frosty air. By the end of the day, Slushy felt much happier and realized that snow wasn’t so bad after all, especially when he had a friend like Stacey to share it with.
