A Lonely Snowman
Slushy Snowman stood on the hill where a nasty snowstorm had created him.
“I am so angry,” shouted Slushy Snowman. “I am angry at the winter season because it created the snow that created me. I am angry because I am lonely. Nobody comes around to talk to me. The people I have seen here so far just walk by me and ignore me.”
Day after day, Slushy Snowman stood where he was, watching people walk by him and ignore him. One day, Slushy had enough. He saw a man in a burgundy winter coat walk by.
“Sir,” called Slushy. “Oh, Sir! I would like to talk to you.”
“Are you finished ranting and raving about how angry you are?” asked the man.
“Yes,” said Slushy. “I am but how did you know about that?”
“I have walked by you for weeks now,” said the man. “Every single time I was going to come over and talk to you but you were too busy being angry.”
“Oh dear,” said Slushy. “I feel horrible. I was so busy being angry that I didn’t notice it was my anger keeping people away.”
“I am just glad you have finally come to your senses,” said the man. “My name is Tony.”
“Hi Tony,” said Slushy. “It is nice to meet you.”
“It is nice to meet you as well,” said Tony. “Oh look, my friend, Annie is coming over to meet you.”
“Hi Annie,” said Slushy, smiling. “It is nice to meet you.”
“I am happy to see you aren’t shouting and being so angry at the world,” said Annie.
“I apologize for that,” said Slushy. “I was so lonely and I didn’t realize that my anger was what was causing everyone to stay away.”
Slushy had a lot of fun that day with his new friends Tony and Annie. From that day on, he tried to keep his anger under control and by doing that he noticed more and more people would stop and talk to him. He had several new friends and that made him happy.
