Delivering Christmas Parcels

It was Christmas Eve and Donald the Delivery Driver just drove his delivery truck into the company parking lot. He had just been on the road for twelve hours driving through a snow storm making sure that everyone’s Christmas parcels were delivered safe and sound.

He went into the office to hand in his keys for the holidays when he saw the office secretary, Denise, in a frazzle, speaking on the phone to a customer.

“Oh I am so sorry,” said Denise. “I understand your parcel was not delivered. However, all my delivery drivers have gone home to be with their families for the holidays. We do apologize and we are deeply sorry that your daughter didn’t receive her Christmas parcel from her grandparents. We will have it delivered to you first thing, right after the holidays.”

Donald the Delivery Driver took his keys down off the hook, picked up the parcel that Denise had on her desk and headed out to the truck.

“Please call my wife and tell her I will be home in an hour,” said Donald the Delivery Driver, knowing he would never be able to enjoy his holidays knowing there was a child out there without her Christmas gift from her grandparents. “Tell her Santa’s helper had an emergency delivery to make.”

“We owe you,” said Denise and then telling the distraught woman on the phone that Santa’s helper just showed up and is on his way to her house as they speak.

“Thank you,” said the woman when Donald the Delivery Driver handed her the parcel for her daughter a half an hour later. “You don’t know what this means to me.”

“It is my pleasure,” said Donald the Delivery Driver. “There was no way I could have enjoyed my holidays knowing your daughter wouldn’t have her Christmas gift from her grandparents.”

“Go home,” said the woman. “Go home and enjoy the holidays with your family now. My family definitely appreciates everything you have done for us. You have gone above and beyond in your duties just for us.”

“Merry Christmas,” said Donald the Delivery Driver.

“Merry Christmas to you and your family,” said the woman, giving Donald the Delivery Driver a hug.

Moral of this Story:
