Groundhog Dance
“It is still winter,” said Silly Groundhog, waking up in the depths of winter. “I feel sick. I am going back to bed.”
This had been a rough winter for Silly Groundhog. First, he caught a cold and then he got the flu. He had been sick most of the winter.
“I just want winter to be over with,” said Silly Groundhog, climbing back into his bed and going back to sleep.
The next time Silly Groundhog woke up was Groundhog Day. He looked outside and saw the sun was shining and he saw water dripping from the trees where there used to be snow.
“It looks beautiful outside,” said Silly Groundhog, rubbing his eyes in disbelief. “I must be dreaming.”
Silly Groundhog ran outside. He forgot all about being sick when he saw it really was nice outside.
Silly Groundhog was so happy that he did a little dance out in the middle of a field. He was so happy that he didn’t notice a crowd had gathered.
“We are going to have an early spring,” said a woman in the crowd. “That groundhog didn’t see his shadow!’
The woman was so happy that she started to dance too. Soon, Silly Groundhog and the
whole crowd were dancing. They were all so happy.
