Apartment 5 – 2019 Resolution for Baby Face Monster
“Look,” said Hop Out. “Baby Face Monster is here.”
“Hello,” waved Baby Face, walking toward Hop Out.
“We are so glad to have you,” said Hop In, Hop Out’s twin brother.
“Welcome to the New Year’s Building,” said Hop Out. “As you know we are here to help you hop out of 2018 and hop into 2019 smoothly. Is there anything about 2018 that is preventing you from hopping out smoothly?”
“There is Ellie,” said Baby Face Monster. “She is my researcher, my best friend and the love of my life.”
“Excuse me for saying this,” said Hop Out. “But I really don’t see that as being a problem.”
“I guess under normal circumstances it isn’t a problem,” said Baby Face Monster. “However, look at me. I am half-human, half-sea creature. I am a monster.”
“How does Ellie feel about you?” asked Hop Out.
“Ellie loves me,” said Baby Face Monster.
“Again, I don’t see the problem here,” said Hop Out.
“I feel like I am holding her back,” said Baby Face.
“It seems to me that you have little or no self-confidence,” said Hop In. “Just because you are different doesn’t mean that you can’t experience love. I would say that your resolution for 2019 is to gain some self-confidence.”
“That makes sense,” said Baby Face. “But how do I do that?”
“I would suggest that each morning take a good look in the mirror,” said Hop In.
“Then tell yourself it is okay for you to be loved and for you to love back.”
“That sounds simple enough,” said Baby Face. “But what happens when those old negative thoughts start to creep back in.”
“You replace those thoughts immediately with positive thoughts,” said Hop In.
“I can do that,” and Baby Face.
“I think you are ready to hop out of 2018,” said Hop Out.
“And I think you are ready to hop in to 2019 smoothly,” said Hop In.
“Thank you,” said Baby Face. “I do feel a lot better about things. Happy New Year!”
