Shaggy Dog

“Oh Shaggy!” exclaimed Joseph, Shaggy Dog’s owner. “It is so nice to see that you listened to me and stayed inside today. There is so much mud outside today from all that rain we have had this autumn. It would have taken me hours and hours to clean you.”

Shaggy Dog is a Komandor breed of dog. His fur makes him look like a mop head. It is very difficult to keep him clean. When he does get dirty, his owner, Joseph, spends hours, first bathing him and then brushing him out.

Joseph lives on a ranch in Prince George, BC. It is very difficult when living on a ranch to keep an ordinary dog clean so you can imagine what Joseph goes through.

“There are times I wish I lived in the city with Shaggy Dog,” Joseph would say to himself.

Joseph has had Shaggy Dog since he was a puppy. The breeder he bought Shaggy Dog from even warned Joseph that to properly care for that kind of dog was going to take a lot of work.

“I don’t care how high maintenance this type of dog is,” Joseph told the breeder. “I am so much in love with this puppy. I have to have him.”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” said the breeder.

Joseph has never regretted buying Shaggy Dog. He turned out to be the most loyal and most devoted dog Joseph had ever seen.

“I have had a few ups and downs with you,” said Joseph, petting Shaggy Dog on the head. “But I wouldn’t trade you for the world.”

Shaggy Dog licked Joseph and Joseph gave Shaggy Dog a big hug.

Moral of this Story:

  • We do love our pets.
  • Example: Shaggy Dog is a very high maintenance dog because of his “mop head” fur but Joseph loves him anyway.
