The Acorn Family and Autumn Elf

It was a cool autumn morning. Autumn Elf was out raking up the leaves under a huge oak tree. All of a sudden, a strong gust of wind came along. Autumn Elf saw something fall to the ground from one of the branches above.

“You are an acorn,” said Autumn Elf, picking up the object that fell to the ground.

“You are a maple leaf,” said the acorn.

Yes,” said Autumn Elf. “I am a maple leaf. My name is Autumn Elf.”

“It is nice to meet you,” said the acorn. “My name is Baby Acorn. I fell from my branch way up there. I have to get back up there. My parents are up there and they are going to be worried about me.”

“I’ m not sure if I can be of any help,” said Autumn Elf.

Just then, another strong gust of wind came along and it pushed Autumn Elf over.

“I actually might be able to help you after all,” said Autumn Elf, holding onto Baby Acorn tightly.

Autumn Elf waited for the strongest gust of wind to come along. He let the wind pick him up and carry him and Baby Acorn, up higher and higher into the air.

“There is my branch,” pointed Baby Acorn.

Once he was at the branch, Autumn Elf stuck out his arm as far as he could. He was able to grab out the branch. Baby Acorn’s parents were so happy to have their son back.

“Thank you for bringing our baby back to us,” cried Mama Acorn.

“You don’t have any idea how much this means to us,” said Papa Acorn.

“It was my pleasure,” said Autumn Elf. “Besides, I had a lot of fun floating through the air.”

Moral of this Story:

  • Always use ingenuity when someone needs help.
  • Example: Autumn Elf said he couldn’t help Baby Acorn at first until a gust of wind blew him over. He knew he could help him with the use of the wind.
