Paula the Paramedic – Character Insight

I created Paula the Paramedic as part of my Canadian Trades/Professions Character Challenge. In Canada, we depend on paramedics to help us when we are sick or we are in an emergency situation.

Paula the Paramedic is like a superhero in a bright uniform. Every day, she helps people who are sick or hurt. She is very strong, not just in her muscles, but in her heart too. Paula is always ready to jump into her ambulance and zoom through the streets to reach someone who needs her help.

She has two special helpers at home, her sons James and Johnny. They understand that their mom has to work hard and study a lot because she wants to be the best paramedic she can be. They are proud of her because she is learning how to take care of people when they are in trouble.

Paula’s job is not easy. Sometimes she sees things that are sad, but she knows she has to be brave. She tells herself, “I can do this,” because she wants to make sure everyone feels better. When she holds someone’s hand or puts a bandage on a scrape, she feels happy inside because she is making a difference.

Even when Paula is not working, she is always looking out for others. If she is at the store or watching a movie and someone needs help, she is there with a smile and a gentle touch. Paula loves being a paramedic, and she thinks that if you want to help people too, you could be a great paramedic just like her!
