Easter Bunny
“Oh my it is the night before Easter already,” said the Easter Bunny one morning as he awoke in his den. “I have to hurry up and gather up all the gifts to give to all the good little boys and girls.”
Easter Bunny gathered everything up as quickly as he could and was on his way.
“Hey look!” said Sammy Squirrel, dropping the nuts that he was collecting on the ground. “It is the Easter Bunny!”
“Oh my!” exclaimed Freddy Fox. “It is the Easter Bunny!”
Sammy and Freddy went over to where the Easter Bunny was.
“What do I get this Easter?” asked Sammy. “I’ve been good this year.”
“Yes,” said Easter Bunny, digging into his Easter basket and handing Sammy a bag of freshly collected nuts. “You have been good.”
“Hey Easter Bunny,” said Freddy. “What about me? Don’t I get anything?”
“Have you been good this year?” asked Easter Bunny.
“Yeah,” said Freddy. “I think so.”
“Think again,” said Easter Bunny. “What about all that lying you did to your sister about her school book that you had taken on her?”
“But I did give it back to her,” said Freddy.
“Did you apologize for it?” asked Easter Bunny.
“Well no,” said Freddy. “Then I guess I’m not getting anything for Easter right?”
“I’ll tell you what,” said the Easter Bunny. “You go apologize to your sister and then I’m sure you will have something hidden in your den for you tomorrow morning.”
Freddy Fox went to his den right away to find his sister.
“Sis,” yelled Freddy Fox. “Sis, where are you? Come here quick.”
“I’m right here,” said Freddy’s sister, coming out of the kitchen. “What is it? What is so important?”
“I just wanted to apologize to you for that time that I took your school book on you,” said Freddy.
“Oh Freddy,” said his sister, giving him a big hug. “Thank you so much. It means a lot to me.”
“I really didn’t mean to take your school book,” said Freddy. “It is just that I thought that I had lost mine so I took yours because I didn’t want to get into trouble.”
“Did you ever find yours?” asked his sister.
“Yes,” said Freddy. “It was at the bottom of my backpack.”
“So why are you waiting so long to apologize to me?” asked Freddy’s sister.
“Well,” said Freddy. “I ran into the Easter Bunny out in the forest just now and I asked him if I was getting anything for Easter and he said that if I apologized to you that he would leave me something.”
“I see,” said Freddy’s sister, a little frustrated. “Freddy, did you really mean the apology though? I mean did the apology come straight from your heart or were you just doing it so you’d get something for Easter.”
“I really did mean it,” said Freddy. “I do want to get something for Easter. However, I really did mean what I said to you.”
The next morning Freddy and his sister both woke up early and searched their den for Easter gifts. Just like the Easter Bunny had promised, Freddy got a few chocolate eggs for Easter.
