Christmas Building 2024 – Apartment 12 – Creepy Creature

The snow-capped mountain towered above Creepy Creature’s den, its peak hidden in the misty clouds. He could hear the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers coming from the town below, their laughter and chatter carrying on the wind. The scent of hot chocolate with marshmallows wafted up, mingling with the sweet aroma of candy canes. Creepy Creature’s stomach growled with hunger, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

“I love hot chocolate with marshmallows,” he said to himself, “but I love candy canes even more.”

Creepy Creature could hardly stand it. He needed to find himself some candy canes. Down the mountain he went, his feet crunching on the snow-covered rocks. The snowflakes began to fall, gently at first, but soon growing thicker and more insistent. Creepy Creature didn’t mind the snow at all. In fact, he loved it, the way it swirled around him, casting a magical spell over the landscape.

Soon, Creepy Creature reached the town, its streets bustling with shoppers and traders. He knew exactly where he would find candy canes. He went to the town hall, its walls adorned with festive decorations and lights. Outside the town hall stood the biggest Christmas tree in all of Storyland, its branches heavy with ornaments and candy canes. Creepy Creature’s eyes grew wide with excitement as he gazed at the tree. He snuck in behind the tree and started taking the candy canes off the tree, one by one.

Just as he was about to make his escape, he heard a voice from behind him.

“What are you doing?” the voice asked. “Are you stealing the candy canes?”

Creepy Creature stood frozen in place, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn’t flinch a muscle. Slowly, he turned to face the speaker, a little girl with big brown eyes and curly brown hair.

Creepy Creature held out one of the candy canes he had in his hand and offered it to the little girl.

“No thank you,” she said, shaking her head. “I don’t like candy canes.”

Creepy Creature’s eyes widened in surprise.

“You don’t,” he said, shocked. “How could you not like candy canes?”

The little girl shrugged.

“I just don’t,” she said. “You could take all the candy canes off that tree you want. Nobody would care.”

Creepy Creature didn’t hesitate. It wasn’t long before he had between twenty and thirty candy canes in his hand, and not one person stopped him. But as he stood beneath the tree, his arms laden with candy canes, he started to feel guilty. He looked around at the people passing by, wondering if they would be upset with him for taking so many candy canes. But instead of anger, he saw indifference. People walked by, glancing at him with mild curiosity, but nobody seemed to care about the candy canes.

Creepy Creature’s guilt turned to confusion. Why didn’t anyone care about the candy canes? He stood beneath the tree, offering candy canes to anyone who walked by. But instead of taking them, people started giving him more candy canes.

“I have never seen so many,” said Creepy Creature, excitedly. “And they are all mine.”

The little girl who had first spoken to him appeared at his side, a smile on her face.

“I told you nobody likes them,” she said. “You are doing us a favor by taking them.”

Once Creepy Creature got all the candy canes up the mountain to his den, he noticed that there was an email inviting him to the Christmas Building.

“This is a huge mistake,” said Creepy Creature, chuckling. “No way I did anything worthy of this invitation, but I will go anyway and see.”

Soon, a limo appeared at the base of the mountain, its sleek black body glinting in the sunlight. The driver got out and walked up to Creepy Creature’s den to get him.

The only thing Creepy Creature took with him were some of his precious candy canes. He offered one to the limo driver, but he declined, smiling politely. As they drove through the snowy landscape, Creepy Creature felt like royalty, the plush seats and soft music enveloping him in comfort. When they arrived at the Christmas Building, Lost Christmas Tree greeted him warmly.

“Welcome,” he said, his branches swaying gently in the breeze. “We hope you enjoy your stay. There will be lots of food, music, and dancing.”

Creepy Creature’s eyes grew wide as he gazed around at the festive decorations. The Christmas tree towered above him, its lights twinkling like stars in the night sky.

“Thank you,” he said, his voice filled with gratitude. “I think you have made a mistake though. I don’t know why you have chosen me.”

Lost Christmas Tree’s branches rustled softly as he smiled.

“You were chosen because, despite your rough exterior, you are soft inside,” he explained. “You were ready to steal the candy canes, but then you felt guilty and started handing them out. That act shows that you have some goodness in you.”

Creepy Creature’s face glowed with pride as he realized that his actions had been noticed. He felt a sense of gratitude towards Lost Christmas Tree for recognizing his efforts.

As the night wore on, Creepy Creature found himself having the time of his life. He danced and sang along with the other guests, feeling like he finally belonged. The food was delicious, and the company was even better. Creepy Creature felt like he had found a new family among the guests at the Christmas Building.

As the evening drew to a close, Lost Christmas Tree presented Creepy Creature with a beautiful award.

“This is for your kindness and generosity,” he said, his voice filled with warmth.

Creepy Creature’s eyes shone with tears as he accepted the award. He felt proud of himself for making a difference in the world.

As he left the Christmas Building and returned to his mountain home, Creepy Creature felt a sense of peace wash over him. He realized that he didn’t have to be defined by his rough exterior. He could be kind and generous, and make a difference in the world. And with that realization, Creepy Creature’s heart grew a little bit bigger, and he felt like he was finally home.

From that day on, Creepy Creature made it a point to spread kindness and joy wherever he went. He visited the town below the mountain, handing out candy canes and spreading cheer. He became known as the kindest creature in all of Storyland, and his heart grew bigger and bigger with each passing day.
