Christmas Building 2024 – Apartment 9 – Bluey Bluebird
“I feel like having some blueberries,” said Bluey Bluebird to himself, as he sat on a snow-covered fence post, watching the world go by. Bluey Bluebird flew off the fence post and flew to his favorite patch of blueberries. He found a few, and they were so delicious that he ate them all up. As he ate the last one, he heard something rustling in the leaves beside him.
“Who is there?” asked Bluey, just a little bit fearful.
“I need some help,” the voice said. “I am stuck.”
Bluey flew closer to where the voice was coming from and found a bear with a very large boulder on top of his back paw.
“I don’t know how much help I can be,” said Bluey. “You can see I am very small.”
“Yes,” said the bear. “I almost had it, but then I ran out of energy. I am so thirsty and hungry.”
“I may be able to help you with some food,” said Bluey.
“That would help immensely,” said the bear.
Bluey flew off. He knew where there were some blueberries. He found a paper wrapper that was discarded. He was able to put a good number of blueberries into it. He flew it over to the bear. The bear was eternally grateful. It was just enough blueberries to give him the energy he needed to get the rock off his paw.
“You saved my life today,” said the bear. “You didn’t even hesitate to help me. I am so grateful to you.”
“You are welcome,” said Bluey. “I wasn’t going to just leave you there.”
“Come with me,” said the bear. “I will pick us both enough blueberries for a feast.”
Bluey and the bear sat in a blueberry patch and ate blueberries until they were both full.
Once Bluey got home, he saw that he had an email from the Christmas Building inviting him to spend Christmas there.
“How exciting!” he cried happily. “I have no clue as to why I was chosen though.”
Bluey packed a suitcase and was ready to go when a limo pulled up onto the street beside his home.
“Welcome,” said Lost Christmas Tree when Bluey got out of the limo at the entrance to the Christmas Building. “We hope you enjoy your stay. There will be lots of food, music, and dancing.”
“This will be fun,” said Bluey. “I am a little bit confused though as to why I was chosen.”
“You have shown a lot of care and compassion to a lot of Storyland characters,” said Lost Christmas Tree. “Just like what happened when you helped that bear today. You did that with no concern for your safety or well-being. You saw a bear in need and helped without hesitation. Your kindness and willingness to help those in need have not gone unnoticed”
Bluey felt a surge of gratitude and warmth as he listened.
“Thank you so much, Lost Christmas Tree,” he said, his voice filled with appreciation. “I can’t believe I was chosen for this special event.”
There was an award ceremony and Bluey was presented with a beautiful award. He had the time of his life at the Christmas Building. He was proud of himself for what he had accomplished by helping others in need. He was definitely going to continue doing that. It felt good to be recognized.
