End of Summer Celebration
“It is almost the end of summer,” said Froggie Sunshine to himself, while he was busy soaking up the warm, golden sun on top of a large, flat lily pad in the middle of the serene pond. The water sparkled like diamonds, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers.
“I think we should hold an end-of-summer celebration,” Froggie exclaimed, his bright green skin glistening with excitement.
“I like that idea,” said Racum Raccoon, who just happened to be soaking up the sunshine on a nearby log, his bushy tail twitching with enthusiasm.
“You do!” exclaimed Froggie, his big, round eyes wide with surprise.
“I do,” said Racum, his voice filled with conviction. “It will be good for everyone to enjoy the little bit of summer that is left.”
“True,” said Froggie, his long legs stretching out in front of him. “I was thinking we could have races and singing and dancing.”
“We could have a BBQ dinner,” said Racum, his eyes shining with excitement.
“That is a wonderful idea,” said Froggie, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
Froggie and Racum worked on the details, and everything went smoothly until they started to make the guest list because there was one creature Froggie was very unsure about, and that was Mad Dog Wolf. Froggie did not want to invite him because Mad Dog was known to be a bully and cause problems.
“He is as much a part of this forest as the rest of us,” said Racum, his voice filled with wisdom.
“Okay,” said Froggie, his voice hesitant. “We will invite him!”
“Good,” said Racum. “Maybe he will have so much fun that he won’t have time to bother anyone.”
“Yes,” agreed Froggie. “The key is to keep him busy.”
The very next weekend, both Froggie and Racum hosted their end-of-summer celebration. Froggie did invite Mad Dog, but he declined, stating he had to visit a sick relative.
“Where is Mad Dog?” asked Racum, his voice filled with concern. “I thought you invited him.”
“I did invite him,” explained Froggie. “He said he had to go visit a sick relative.”
“That’s funny,” said Racum. “I just saw him when I was walking here.”
“Oh dear,” said Froggie. “He must have felt like we really didn’t want him to come.”
“I’ll go get him,” said Racum.
About half an hour later, Racum came back, and Mad Dog was right behind him, his tail wagging hesitantly. At first, Mad Dog seemed a bit awkward, but as the day went on, he started to relax and even have fun. He laughed and joked with the other animals, and his singing voice surprised everyone. All the animals in the forest had an amazing time, and Mad Dog even won first place in the singing competition. As the sun began to set, Froggie and Racum thanked everyone for coming, and Mad Dog approached them, his eyes shining with gratitude.
“Thank you for inviting me,” he said, his voice filled with sincerity. “I had a great time.”
“We’re glad you could come,” said Froggie, his voice warm. “We’re always happy to have you.”
From that day on, Mad Dog became a part of the forest community, and everyone learned that sometimes, all it takes is a little kindness to bring someone into the fold.
