The Unplayed April Fool’s Joke

“It is April Fools tomorrow,” said Jackie Jester to himself, while looking at his calendar. “I don’t have any idea of what joke to play on anyone.”

Jackie Jester sat on the end of his bed and pondered his dilemma. A thought struck him and the more he thought about it, the more he loved his idea.

“I’m not going to do anything,” said Jackie, laughing to himself. “This is brilliant!”

The next morning, Jackie woke up at his usual time. He went into the kitchen and found his mother having her coffee. She jumped when she saw Jackie and almost spilled her coffee.

“She is already expecting me to do something,” said Jackie Jester to himself.

Jackie grabbed a bowl out of the cupboard to make himself breakfast. Mother jumped up from the table and took the bowl from him.

“Sit down,” said Mother. “I will make your breakfast for you.”

“Okay,” said Jackie, laughing to himself.

Jackie ate his breakfast and the whole time he was eating, he could see his mother being very nervous around him.

After eating breakfast, he put his bowl in the sink and started going upstairs to get dressed.

“Are you feeling okay today?” Mother asked, calling after him.

“Yes,” said Jackie. “I am feeling fine.”

Jackie got dressed and took a book from his bookshelf and laid down on the bed with it. About an hour later, Mother knocked on his door.

“Come in,” called Jackie.

“I really need to know what you are planning for today,” said Mother. “The suspense is driving me crazy.”

“April Fool’s,” laughed Jackie.

“What are you talking about?” asked Mother, more confused than ever.

“My April Fool’s joke was to not play any joke,” explained Jackie, in a fit of laughter.

” Well,” said Mother, also in a fit of laughter. “That was the best April Fool’s joke ever!”

Moral of this Story:
