A Winter Delivery
Donald the Delivery Driver started up his delivery truck. It was a bitterly cold and windy winter day. While he waited for his truck to warm up, he checked the weather for the day. He found out he was going to be delivering in some very bad weather.
“Oh dear,” said Donald the Delivery Driver, looking at his route for the day. “I see I have a very important parcel to deliver to Timmy, a young boy who is very ill. It is his prescription. They have me delivering it at the end of the day. I think I’d better switch my route around because with that storm coming, I will never make it to Timmy’s. The roads are always bad where he lives, as it is.”
Donald the Delivery Driver called dispatch and cleared the change of route with them.
“Thank you,” said the dispatch operator. “That is very good thinking on your part. That little boy needs that medication.”
Donald the Delivery Driver drove to Timmy’s house and delivered his medication to him.
“Thank you so much!” cried Timmy’s mother. “With that bad storm coming, I wasn’t sure you were going to make it. Timmy needs that medication.”
“There is going to be a nasty storm,” said Donald the Delivery Driver. “I brought the medication out for Timmy first because there is no telling how bad the roads will be later.”
“We appreciate your thoughtful thinking,” said Timmy’s mother.
“I’d best be on my way,” said Donald the Delivery Driver, seeing the storm starting already.
“Yes,” said Timmy’s mother. “Be careful out there today.”
“I will,” said Donald the Delivery Driver.
Donald Delivery Driver just managed to get his truck back onto the main highway. Looking back, he saw the road to Timmy’s house was already unpassable.
“It really is good I thought of doing Timmy’s delivery first,” said Donald the Delivery Driver.
Donald the Delivery Driver received a company bonus and award for his quick thinking that day. Everyone he knew was so proud of him.
