Hot Day Complaints

It was a scorching hot day in Storyland and some of the characters were having a bit of a hard time in coping with it.

Me, owner/creator of Storyland, got out of bed because she was getting all kinds of texts on her phone from some of the characters, complaining about the heat. Complaints are something she has to deal with.

“It is so hot,” complained Forgetful Fred, in a text. “I forgot to turn the air conditioner on before I left the house. I am going to boil when I get home.”

“It is much too hot to even take a subway ride,” complained Subway Sam, in a text. “Especially since the air-conditioners on the subways are out of order.”

On and on the list of complaints rolled in. Me sat on the edge of her bed. She tried standing up but she was dizzy. The heat was getting to her too. However, she knew she had to deal with the complaints.

One by one, Me responded to each of the texts. Luckily for Forgetful Fred, Me found out his wife, Sarah was still at home so, she asked Sarah to make sure the air conditioner was turned on. Me also found out that the issue with the air conditioner on the subways was temporary and the subways were nice and cool now.

Me couldn’t solve everyones problems with the heat but, she did what she could. She was exhausted at the end of that day from the heat and also from all the work she had done.

“Thank you,” Forgetful Fred texted Me at the end of the day. “My house was nice and cool when I got home.”

Subway Sam and several other characters also sent texts thanking Me for what she had done to help them keep cool.

“That makes it all worthwhile,” said Me, sipping on an ice cold drink of lemonade, and enjoying the rest of the hot day under a huge shade tree.

Moral of this Story:

  • It isn’t nice to complain about things that we have no control over.
  • Example: Me helped Forgetful Fred and Subway Sam with their complaints about the heat. However, they could have helped themselves.
