Apartment 1 – Safety Kid

Lost Christmas Tree opened the door of the apartment building known as the Christmas Building. He saw a flight of stairs so he decided to take them. He ended up on the third floor. He walked down the hallway and saw Apartment 1 on a sign posted on the doorway. He knocked on the door.

“Hi!” exclaimed Lost Christmas Tree, when a young man wearing a reflective safety vest answered the door. “I am Lost Christmas Tree. Are you expecting a Christmas tree delivery?”

“No,” said the young man. “I’m not. I am just on my way to buy my Christmas tree now. My name is Safety kid.”

“It is nice to meet you,” said Lost Christmas Tree.

“It is nice to meet you too,” said Safety Kid.

“I better go,” said Lost Christmas Tree. “I have to figure out which one of these apartments I will be spending Christmas at.”

“You don’t know which apartment you are supposed to be at?” asked Safety Kid.

“No,” said Lost Christmas Tree.

Lost Christmas Tree told Safety Kid how he was dropped off a block away from the Christmas Building by two inexperienced delivery drivers.

“I see,” said Safety Kid. “Well, if I hear anything about someone missing a Christmas tree, I will let you know.”

“That would be wonderful,” said Lost Christmas Tree, as he waved goodbye.

“Wait,” said Safety Kid. “Your lights are falling off. They are dragging on the ground. You could fall and hurt yourself.”

“Oh dear,” said Lost Christmas Tree, looking down and seeing that his lights were falling off.

Lost Christmas Tree tried to fix them and Safety Kid saw he was having difficulty in doing so. Safety Kid helped him. It only took him a minute to do so.

“Thank you,” said Lost Christmas Tree.

“You are welcome,” said Safety Kid. “My job is to make sure everyone in Storyland is safe.”

“You definitely do a good job of that,” said Lost Christmas Tree. “Merry Christmas.”

“Thank you,” said Safety Kid. “Merry Christmas to you too.”
