Protecting Family with Little Crow
“I am going to go fly around and enjoy the autumn weather,” said Little Crow.
“Why?” asked his cousin, Jake.
“Because it is going to be winter soon,” said Little Crow.
“Flying around for no reason is lame,” said Jake. “As a matter of fact, you are lame.”
Little Crow’s feelings were hurt. He went outside. He didn’t feel like flying around. Instead, he stood out on the porch.
Little Crow watched the autumn leaves fall from the tree. It looked beautiful but he wasn’t in the mood to enjoy them. He went back inside and went to his room.
“I thought you were going to fly around and enjoy the autumn leaves,” said Jake, laughing.
“Jake,” said Grandma, who overheard the whole conversation between Jake and Little
Crow. “Why do you tease Little Crow all the time? It isn’t very nice.”
“He loves it,” said Jake.
“I saw the look on his face,” said Grandma. “He definitely did not like it. You know, we are family and you should start treating Little Crow as such. You should try protecting him, not hurting him.”
Little Crow came out of his room a little while later. He had a suitcase with him.
“Where are you going?” asked Grandma.
“I am leaving,” said Little Crow. “I am tired of Jake always teasing me.”
“Jake thought long and hard about what would happen if Little Crow left. He knew it would destroy Grandma. He didn’t want to be responsible for that
“Little Crow,” said Jake. “Please don’t leave. I am sorry for teasing you. I promise it won’t happen again.”
“Okay,” said Little Crow. “As long as you promise, I will stay.””Just to show you I am serious,” said Jake. “How about we both go outside and enjoy the beautiful autumn day together?”
“I would like that,” said Little Crow.
“Now that is what family is all about,” said Grandma, wiping a tear from her eye. “That is beautiful.”
