Summer Sun

Summer Sun decided that she wanted to make this day a warm summer day. She went over to the main thermometer and set the temperature to warm. She was in charge of the thermometer in Storyland, during the summer months.

“I think I will go for a walk on this warm summer day,” said Summer Sun.

Summer Sun put on her pretty pink summer dress. She brushed her bright orange hair and brushed her teeth.

“I will go see if Angela is home,” said Summer Sun.

Angela Ant was Summer Sun’s best friend. Angela seemed to always get into some kind of trouble. Summer Sun looked out for Angela. She tried to keep her out of trouble. She tried to protect her.

The main reason Angela kept getting into trouble was because she hung around with Matilda. Matilda was a wicked witch. She loved getting Angela involved in her schemes. She didn’t care about Angela getting into trouble. Matilda only cared about herself.

Summer Sun went by Angela’s house but Angela wasn’t home. She kept walking and just up the road and around the first bend, Summer Sun saw Angela talking to Matilda.

“Those two are trouble when they are together,” said Summer Sun. “I’d better go help Angela and make sure she doesn’t get into trouble with Matilda.”

Summer Sun walked toward Angela and Matilda. She overheard Matilda asking Angela to turn the main thermometer way up so it stifling hot.

“Hello Angela,” said Summer Sun. “I really hope you are not going to do what Matilda has asked you to do.”

“I… I,” stuttered Angela.

“Why don’t you mind your own business?” said Matilda, angrily.

“I will mind my own business when you stop getting my best friend, Angela, into trouble,” said Summer Sun. “Come on, Angela. I don’t want you hanging around Matilda today.”

Summer Sun took Angela Ant by the hand and led her away from Matilda.

“Are you angry with me?” asked Angela, once they were far enough away from Matilda.

“No,” said Summer Sun. “I could never be angry with you. You are my best friend. I care about you and I don’t want to see you get into trouble.”

“Thank you,” said Angela. “I was just out for a walk when Matilda stopped me. I wouldn’t have touched the main thermometer. I really don’t want to get into trouble. I hope you believe me.”

“I do,” said Summer Sun.

“Good,” said Angela.

“Let’s go for a walk,” said Summer Sun.

“What if we see Matilda?” asked Angela.

“I will protect you,” said Summer Sun.

Summer Sun and Angela went for a walk. They both enjoyed themselves very much. They did see Matilda but Matilda saw Summer Sun. She was intimidated by her so she didn’t say anything to Summer Sun or Angela.
