City Kid and the Family on Mother’s Day
“Mother’s Day is coming up in a few weeks,” said City Kid.
“Yes,” said Mother, who was sitting in her rocking chair doing some knitting.
Mother had that faraway look in her eyes. City Kid knew what she was thinking.
“I sure wish I could get the whole family together for Mother’s Day,” thought City Kid. “I know that would make Mother very happy.”
City Kid knew that to get the whole family together would be an impossible task because his family is the Canadian Family and they are spread out from the west to the east. He also knew that his family would all be very busy at this time of the year.
“I know what you would like for Mother’s Day more than anything in the world, “said City Kid. “If I could make it happen, I would”.
“I know you would,” said Mother.
“I will take you out for dinner for Mother’s Day,” said City Kid.
“I would like that very much,” said Mother.
Mother’s Day came and Mother was in the kitchen making a pot of coffee. She saw a limousine pull up in the driveway and she was thrilled to see the rest of her children getting out of it.
“Oh my!” exclaimed City Kid as he walked into the kitchen and saw what was happening.
Mother looked at him as if to ask him if he had any part In his siblings showing up.
“I wish I could say yes,” said City Kid. “But, they did this on their own.”
City Kid and Mother walked outside. Mother hugged Rancher Girl, Mountain Kid, Prairie Kid and Fishing Kid. She was so happy to see all her children together.
“This is the best Mother’s Day ever,” said Mother, smiling.
“I agree,” said City Kid, loving the fact that Mother was smiling. “Happy Mother’s Day!”
