Travelin’ Rick Goes to the Fall Fair
This is fall already! Where has the time gone? It feels like it was just yesterday that I planted my garden with my prize-winning pumpkins! Now, they are on the back of my pick-up truck, waiting for their trip to the fall fair! I am entering them in “The Biggest Pumpkin” contest. That also means that I get to go to the fall fair! Wow! Am I ever excited? Why don’t you all hop into the back of my pick-up truck and we’ll go to the fall fair together? We’ll have loads of fun.
As soon as we get to the fair we will take the pumpkins to the judging ring. We have to be very careful about how we unload the pumpkins. We wouldn’t want to damage them.
We can walk around the fair grounds and have some fun until judging time. We could go get some cotton candy and go on some rides. My favourite ride is the roller coaster. What is yours? We also could go to the petting zoo to see some animals. The zebra is my favourite animal.
At twelve noon, we will have to make our way back to the judging ring. I wouldn’t want to miss out on that! We will watch the judges take a close look at each of the many pumpkins that were brought in from neighbouring farms. Some pumpkins will be tiny and some will be huge. The judges will slice a piece off each pumpkin and taste it. They also will check each pumpkin for firmness, too.
At the end of all the judging, a winner will be chosen. That is the best part of the whole fair! I don’t mind if I don’t win any prizes. I only enter the competition for the fun of it. So, if you’d like to have some fun, let’s go!
