Unexpected Kindness
“Dianne,” said Billy Troll to his wife hoarsely. “My throat is so sore.”
“Oh no!” cried Dianne, concerned about her husband. “The Storyland Winter Festival is tomorrow. We have to get you better by then.”
Billy tried to speak but Dianne motioned him not to.
“Save your voice,” she said. “You go sit. I will go get some help.”
Dianne walked the streets of Storyland, aimlessly looking for help for her husband. It was after hours, so the medical clinic was closed. Just as she was about to give up, a fairy-like creature appeared in front of her.
“Twilight Tundra to the rescue,” said the character. “What is wrong? You look distraught.”
“It’s my husband, Billy,” cried Dianne. “He has a very bad sore throat and the Storyland Winter Festival is tomorrow.”
“What he needs is some of my vegetable soup,” said Twilight Tundra. “I am sure that will fix him right up.”
“Oh that does sound good,” said Dianne. “I have heard that your soup has done wonders.”
“It does fix them up,” said Twilight Tundra. “Let me get my cauldron and some fresh ingredients and I will meet you at your place.”
“Sounds good,” said Dianne, feeling better about their situation.
Twilight boiled up some vegetables and handed two huge bowls to Dianne.
“Give one to Billy and you drink the other,” said Twilight. “It will help Billy get better and stop you from getting sick too.”
Dianne and Billy ate their soup and within an hour, Billy’s voice was back to normal.
“That soup does wonders,” said Billy. “Where is Twilight? I want to thank her.”
Dianne and Billy could not find her to thank her. They searched everywhere but Twilight Tundra had vanished just as mysteriously as she had appeared. As they both looked out into the moonlit night, they could only hope to one day repay her kindness.
