Beatrice Bee and the Summer Buzz

“Beatrice Bee,” said Ugly Sally, who was walking around Storyland. “Why are you making so much noise? What is all the buzz about?”

“I heard there is a summer surprise for Storyland,” said Beatrice.

“That sounds interesting,” said Ugly Sally. “What is the surprise? When is it going to be?”

“I don’t know,” said Beatrice.

“I see,” said Ugly Sally. “Do you have any details at all?”

“No,” said Beatrice. “I don’t.”

“Why even tell me at all?” asked Ugly Sally. “I don’t believe there is a surprise at all.”

“But there is one,” said Beatrice.

“Unless you have some details,” said Ugly Sally. “I don’t want to hear about it.”

Beatrice told several other people about the summer surprise but they all had the same reaction.

“How come nobody believes me?” Beatrice asked herself.

“Believes you about what?” asked Jayden, who overheard Beatrice talking to herself.

“I heard there was a summer surprise for Storyland,” said Beatrice. “But nobody believes me.”

“What is the surprise?” asked Jayden.

“I don’t know,” said Beatrice. “I don’t have any details.”

“Well that is why nobody believes you,” said Jayden. “You can’t tell people there is a surprise without giving them any details.”

“Oh,” said Beatrice, feeling bad.

“Is that your summer surprise?” asked Jayden a few minutes later, seeing a convoy of trucks driving up the road.

“It has to be,” said Beatrice. “The surprise is the circus is coming to town!”

“Now that is a wonderful surprise,” said Jayden. “I am sure we will all enjoy it.”

“Yes,” said Ugly Sally, who saw the convoy of trucks. “That is a wonderful surprise. I am sorry for not believing you earlier.”

“And I am sorry for not giving you any details,” said Beatrice.

“Let’s go enjoy the circus,” said Jayden.

“Yes,” agreed Ugly Sally and Beatrice together. “Let’s go have some fun!”

Moral of this Story:

  • It is good to have details before telling people about a surprise.
  • Example: Beatrice Bee told everyone about a surprise but didn’t have any details so nobody believed her.
