Mrs. Tulip and a Happy Spring

“I am so happy,” said Mrs. Tulip, waking up in the garden dirt from her long winter nap and stretching her leaves. “Spring is finally here. I can walk around the garden and stretch.”

Mrs. Tulip was very happy about spring being there because it was a long winter.

“I am going to go for a walk,” said Mrs. Tulip, smiling. “I don’t want to waste this spring at all.”

Mrs. Tulip was a little wobbly on her feet. After all, she was buried under the garden dirt all winter long. Once she started walking though, it didn’t take her long to get used to her feet.

“Mrs. Tulip!” Mrs. Tulip heard someone calling her from the tree above her head. “It is nice to see you. I take it spring is here.”

“Mrs. Robin,” said Mrs. Tulip, looking up into the tree and seeing her friend, Mrs. Robin. “It is so nice to see you as well. Isn’t it nice that spring is finally here?”

“I guess,” said Mrs. Robin.

“You don’t sound very happy that spring is finally here,” said Mrs. Tulip. “Everyone should be happy that spring is here. What is wrong?”

“Well,” said Mrs. Robin.” With spring now here, I will be very busy and I won’t have time to even think. Once the babies hatch, all my time will be taken up looking after them.”

“Oh dear,” said Mrs. Tulip. “You should be happy that spring is here, not gloomy. Maybe once the babies hatch, you should get a babysitter so you can have time for yourself.”

“You know,” said Mrs. Tulip. “That sounds like a plan but, who would I get to babysit my babies.”

“I could do it,” said Mrs. Tulip.

“That would be wonderful,” said Mrs. Robin, smiling. “I do think I can now be happy that spring is here.”

“Great!” smiled Mrs. Tulip. “I want everyone to have a happy spring.”
