Summer Fruits
“Oh look,” said Troll Mother. “A fruit stand. I would love some fresh cherries and blueberries.”
“Blueberries,” said Troll Baby, licking his lips. “Yummy!”
“Yes,” agreed Troll Mother. “Blueberries are yummy, so are cherries.”
Troll Baby had never tried cherries before.
“I don’t want cherries,” said Troll Baby.
“Wait until you taste them,” said Troll Mother. “Then you will want lots of them.”
Troll Mother bought some blueberries, cherries, peaches and apples at the fruit stand. She spent a lot of money but she felt the fruit she got was worth it.
“What is all this?” asked Troll Daddy, when Troll Mother and Troll Baby got home.
“I went to the fruit market,” said Troll Mother.
“I bet it was expensive,” said Troll Daddy. “And, you know we can’t afford it.”
“Yes it was,” admitted Troll Mother.
“Well I don’t want any of it, ” said Troll Daddy.
Troll Mother decided to make a cherry crumble cake for dessert. After supper she brought it out and set it on the table.
“What is that?” asked Troll Daddy.
“It is a cherry crumble cake,” said Troll Mother.
“It smells delicious,” said Troll Daddy.
“Do you want some?” asked Troll Mother.
“Can I have some?” asked Troll Daddy, feeling bad about what he said to Troll Mother earlier.
“Of course you can have some,” said Troll Mother.
“I want some too,” said Troll Baby.
“Me too,” said Troll Brother and Troll Sister at the same time.
“This is so good,” said Troll Daddy, who ate his all up. “Can I have seconds?”
“More cherries!” cried Troll Baby.
Troll Mother dished everyone second serving.
“I will have to buy some more cherries and make another one,” said Troll Mother, noticing the cherry crumble cake was all gone.
The next morning, Troll Daddy gave Troll Mother some money from his wallet.
“What is this for?” asked Troll Mother.
“Please buy some more cherries with it,” said Troll Father, giving her a kiss.
