A Special Father’s Day
“Father’s Day is this Sunday, “said Hillbilly Bob. “We should do something special for Dad.”
“Yes,” said Mother. “You are right. We should. Your dad is a very special man.”
“He is,” said Hillbilly Bob. “He has always been someone I could count on.”
“He is the most loving and caring man I have ever met,” said Mother.
“Do you have any idea of what we can do for him?” asked Hillbilly Bob. “What is something he used to do but doesn’t anymore?”
“Well,” said Mother, thinking. “Your father and I used to go to the ball games. We enjoyed that very much.”
“That is a wonderful idea,” said Hillbilly Bob. “There is a ball game this Sunday. I will get tickets for the three of us.”
Hillbilly Bob was so excited. For once, he could do something special for his dad, something his dad would enjoy.
Hillbilly Bob got on the phone and purchased three tickets to the baseball game that Sunday. Mother went upstairs to Dad’s closet and found his old baseball cap and Jersey. She brought them downstairs and showed Hillbilly Bob.
“This is what your Dad wore to the games we used to go to,” said Mother.
“I think he needs a new jersey,” laughed Hillbilly Bob, seeing the moth holes in the old one.”
“I agree,” said Mother. “That is why I ordered him a new one.”
“He will love that,” said Hillbilly Bob.
Father’s Day came around and Mother handed Dad a gift-wrapped parcel.
“A new baseball jersey,” said Dad. “I love it.”
Hillbilly Bob handed Dad an envelope.
“Tickets to a baseball game!” exclaimed Dad, excited. “Your mother and I haven’t been to a game in years”.
Hillbilly Bob, Mother and Dad had a wonderful day at the ballgame.
“That was a very special Father’s Day,” said Dad, that evening. “I really enjoyed myself. It was nice to do something, as a family, together.”
“I agree,” said Hillbilly Bob. “We really should do that more often. Happy Father’s Day, Dad!”
