Opposite of Autumn is Spring

“It is such a beautiful autumn day,” said Missy Opposite as her and her mother were taking a walk.

“Autumn is a beautiful season here in Kingston,” said Mother. “Do you know what the opposite of autumn is?”

“The opposite of autumn is spring,” said Missy Opposite.

“Very good,” said Mother. “Do you know why they are opposite?”

“During the autumn months the leaves on the trees will fall off,” said Missy Opposite. “Everything gets ready for the cold winter weather ahead. In the spring, the trees grow new leaves. The weather starts to get warm.”

“Very good,” said Mother. “Autumn doesn’t only affect leaves and trees. It also affects some animals. What happens to bears and some of the other animals in the autumn?”

“Bears and some of the other animals get themselves ready for winter by hibernating,” said Missy Opposite.

“You are so smart,” said Mother. “I think we should get an ice-cream cone.”

“That would be wonderful,” said Missy Opposite.

Mother bought Missy Opposite an ice-cream cone once they had walked to the general store. They enjoyed the autumn beauty knowing that it would soon turn cold. However, they also knew they could look forward to the coming of spring.
