End of Summer Vacation

“What are you doing, Robbie?” Mother asked. “You look like you’re bored.”

“Well, I am bored,” said Robbie.

“Wait until next week,” said Mother. “You won’t be bored then.”

“Why?” asked Robbie.

“Next week you go back to school,” said Mother.

“Already,” said Robbie. “Boy, summer sure goes by fast!”

“I’ve got an idea,” said Mother. “How would you like to go to the zoo today?”

“The zoo!” exclaimed Robbie. “Wow, that would be fun!”

“Alright,” said Mother. “It’s settled then. We are going to go to the zoo today.”

Robbie and Mother drove to the zoo. This was Robbie’s first trip to the zoo. He was fascinated by all the different animals that he saw. He especially liked the zebra’s.

“Hi Daddy!” exclaimed Robbie, excitedly when his father came home from work that evening.

“Hi son,” said Daddy. “I’ve got something for you in my coat pocket. Go get it.”

“Oh goodie,” said Robbie.

Robbie rushed over to the coat rack and pulled out an envelope from his father’s coat pocket.

“Wow!” exclaimed Robbie. “These are circus tickets!”

“Yes,” said Daddy. “I got us some tickets for the circus tonight, because I know that your summer vacation is almost over.”

“This is so neat,” said Robbie. “Will there be any zebra’s there?”

“No, I don’t think so,” said Daddy. “However, there will be lions and tigers and maybe even bears!”

“I’m going to see lots of animals today,” said Robbie.

“Yes, you will,” said Mother, coming into the living-room to see what all the excitement is all about. “Robbie, did you tell Daddy where we went to today?”

“No,” said Robbie. “I didn’t have time to.”

“Alright you two,” said Daddy. “Where did you two go today?”

“We went to the zoo,” said Robbie.

“You did!” exclaimed Daddy.

“Yes,” said Mother. “Robbie was so bored this morning and I wanted to do something special with him before he went back to school.”

“Well, it looks like you aren’t going to be bored for a long time to come,” laughed Daddy.
